Oxford BioSystems is proud to be an Antibiotic Guardian organisation, supporting the UK’s efforts to tackle antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and protect the effectiveness of antibiotics for future generations.
Antimicrobial resistance, including antibiotic resistance, is one of the most significant global health challenges. Addressing it requires collaboration across research, healthcare, diagnostics and public health.
Why Antimicrobial Resistance Matters
Without effective antibiotics, many modern medical treatments become significantly more risky. Routine procedures such as surgery, cancer treatments and the management of infections all rely on antibiotics that work. Scientific research, laboratory diagnostics and innovation also play a critical role in understanding and combating antimicrobial resistance.
Supporting the Antibiotic Guardian Initiative
The Antibiotic Guardian campaign was originally launched in 2014 by Public Health England and is now supported by the UK Health Security Agency, alongside partners across healthcare, research and government.
The initiative encourages organisations and individuals to pledge to support responsible antibiotic use and raise awareness of antimicrobial resistance.
