New Microblot-Array autoimmune antibody testing panels from TestLine

TestLine Clinical Diagnostics has introduced two new Microblot-Array (MBA) panels, now available in the UK and Ireland through Oxford BioSystems.

Microblot-Array is a next-generation immunoblot array in a microtiter plate format, designed for multiplex diagnostics. It enables the simultaneous detection of multiple markers within a single well, supporting more efficient testing and reducing both time and cost per analysis.

Processing can be performed manually or using existing ELISA instruments. Results are read using the TestLine Microblot-Array Reader and analysed with dedicated software.

In addition to the Microblot-Array ANA kit, TestLine are now offering two new MBA kits to compliment their panel of Autoimmune ELISA kits:

  • Microblot-Array Liver profile
  • Microblot-Array Autoimmune gastroenteritis panel (IgA)

What is Microblot-Array?

Microblot-Array (MBA) is based on the immunoblot principle, adapted to a 96-well microtiter plate format rather than a traditional strip. Recombinant antigens are immobilised on a nitrocellulose membrane at the bottom of each well, enabling simultaneous detection and quantitation of multiple antibody targets within a single test.

During the assay, antibodies in the sample bind to specific antigen spots on the membrane. Following incubation with the enzyme-labelled conjugate and substrate solution, a colour reaction occurs. This colorimetric signal is measured by the Microblot-Array Reader, and results are evaluated using dedicated software.

Each well contains integrated system controls and calibration spots, ensuring assay performance and enabling quantitative evaluation. Antigens are spotted in triplicate to support reliability and consistency, and the 96-well plate format includes breakable well strips for flexible testing volumes. Each well is barcoded for automated identification during analysis.

Microblot-Array ANA

The Microblot-Array ANA assay is used to detect IgG antibodies to extractable nuclear antigens in human serum or plasma. The total assay time is approximately 1.5 hours and the assay can be used for the confirmation of ANA screening tests and for the differentiation of specific antibodies in the diagnosis of systemic autoimmune diseases.

Antigens included:

  • Group 1 (ANA): Jo-1, PL-7, PL-12, EJ, OJ, KS, YARS, ZoA, ZoB, SAE-1, SAE-2, SRP54, Mi-2, TIF1γ, MDA5, NXP2, PMScl 75, PMScl 100, CENP A, CENP B, Scl70, POLR3A, NOR90, PDGFR-β, Fibrillarin, Th/To, Ro52, Ro60, La, SmB, SmD, RNP A, RNP C, RNP 68/70, P0, Ku, Nucleolin, dsDNA, Histone, Nucleosome, PCNA; Supplementary antigens: M2, DFS70
  • Group 2 (Myositis): Jo-1, PL-7, PL-12, EJ, OJ, KS, YARS, ZoA, ZoB, SAE-1, SAE-2, SRP54, Mi-2, TIF1γ, MDA5, NXP2; Supplementary antigens: Ro52, PMScl 75, PMScl 100, Ku
  • Group 3 (Scleroderma): CENP A, CENP B, Scl70, POLR3A, NOR90, PDGFR-β, Fibrillarin, Th/To, PMScl 75, PMScl 100, RNP A, RNP C, RNP 68/70; Supplementary antigens: Ro52, Ku, M2
  • Group 4 (SLE and other connective tissue diseases): dsDNA, Histone, Nucleosome, PCNA, SmB, SmD, RNP A, RNP C, RNP 68/70, P0, Ku, Nucleolin, Ro52, Ro60, La, NOR90

NEW Microblot-Array Liver profile

The MBA Liver profile kit is used for the detection and quantitation of autoimmune antibodies in human serum or plasma, The total assay time is approximately 1.5 hours. The assay can be used for the confirmation of  autoimmune screening tests and for the differentiation of specific antibodies in the diagnosis of autoimmune liver diseases including Autoimmune hepatitis (AIH), Primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) and Primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC).

The kit detects antibodies to 13 highly specific recombinant antigens, including:

  • AIH: SLA/LP, LKM-1, LC-1
  • PBC antimitochondrial antigens: M2, PDC-E2, OGDC-E2, 3E (BPO)
  • PBC – nuclear/nuclear envelope antigens: Sp100, PML, gp210, Ro52, Nup62
  • AIH–PBC overlap marker: ASGPR

NEW Microblot-Array Autoimmune gastroenteritis panel (IgA and IgG)

The MBA Autoimmune gastroenteritis panel is intended for the detection and quantitation of specific antibodies associated with autoimmune diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. The total assay time is approximately 1.5 hours and kits are available for IgG and IgA antibody detection in human serum or plasma.

The kit includes 48 tests, and detects antibodies to the following antigens: ASCA, MPO, DAG, tTG, IF, APCA.

What are the key features of Microblot-Array?

The key features of MBA include:

  • Multiplex testing: up to 44 antigen targets per well
  • 96-well format: breakable strips for flexible testing volumes
  • Triplicate antigen spotting: supports reliability and consistency
  • Integrated controls: reference, control, conjugate control and calibration spots
  • ELISA compatibility: processing using standard ELISA platforms
  • Flexible throughput: suitable for both individual and batch testing
  • Quantitative evaluation: calibration spots enable measurement of antibody levels
  • Automated analysis: MBA reader and interactive software for result evaluation within a few minutes and comprehensive reporting
  • Detailed reports: exported in various formats and with LIS connectivity
