Osteoprotegerin (OPG)
Osteoprotegerin (OPG) is a cytokine receptor and member of the tumour necrosis factor receptor family. OPG has an important role in bone remodeling, bone malignancies and disorders of mineral metabolism. It is an inhibitor of osteoclast development and activation.
A new OPG ELISA is available, manufactured by Biomedica, cat.no. BI-20403.
This new ELISA, CE marked in the EU, gives same day results and shows very good sample correlation with the former Biomedica OPG ELISA (cat.no. BI-20402), which required overnight incubation.

N-Telopeptides (NTx)
The N-terminal telopeptide (or more formally, amino-terminal collagen crosslinks, and known by the acronym NTx) is a biomarker used to measure the rate of bone turnover. NTx can be measured in urine and serum. The manufacturer is Alere.
PINP Procollagen
Procollagen type I N-terminal propeptide (PINP) as an indicator of type I collagen metabolism. The assay is available as a 100 test RIA assay kit from Orion Diagnostica.

Sclerostin
Sclerostin is an inhibitor of Wnt signaling, produced by osteocytes. It is manufactured by Biomedica as an ELISA kit.
A regulatory marker of bone turnover, the Sclerostin ELISA is used in applications including Osteoporosis, Cancer Induced Bone Disease, Rheumatoid arthritis, and Chronic Inflammation.
25-OH Vitamin D3/D2 , LC-MS/MS
25-Hydroxyvitamin D (25OHD) is the major circulating form of vitamin D and the precursor of the active form (1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D). Because of its long half-life, 25OHD measurements are useful for assessing vitamin D status in patients. Liquid chromatography, tandem mass spectrometry (LC/MS/MS) method does not use radioisotopes and is sensitive and equally specific for both forms of 25OHD. Concentrations of each form are measured and reported independently. Immundiagnostik are the manufacturers of these products.
