Inflammation

HMGB1 ELISA

IBL international offer the only commercially available ELISA to measure HMGB1 (cat# ST51011), a protein which acts as a cytokine exhibiting similar pro-inflammatory effects to TNF-a and IL-6.

HMGB1 is present in the nucleus and cytoplasm of mammalian cells and is involved in gene transcription as a chromatin binder. It can be released passively as a soluble molecule from necrotic cells or may be actively secreted from inflammatory cells, thus it acts like a cytokine with similar pro-inflammatory effects to TNF-a and IL-6. HMGB1 is therefore involved with any diseases coping with dying necrotic cells, examples include, sepsis and septic shock, stroke, cancer and viral infections. There are over 2,000 scientific articles published regarding HGMB1, with over 100 of these having used the HMGB1 ELISA.

We are now also able to supply Cytokine-HMGB-1 for research purposes from IBL

ELISA for Cytokines, Chemokines and Cell Adhesion Molecules (CAMs)

Cytokines, including chemokines are the most studied mediators of inflammation as many are involved in acute and/or chronic inflammatory responses.

IBL International offers a comprehensive portfolio of ELISAs for the detection of cytokines and chemokines. In addition they also provide ELISAs for the detection of soluble CAMs, as they appear to represent important biomarkers for inflammatory processes involving activation or damage to cells.

CRP ELISA

CRP is an acute phase protein produced exclusively in the liver and present in the serum of the normal population at concentrations ranging up to 5mg/L. A quantitative CRP determination is a marker for acute inflammation and tissue necrosis. Within hours of an acute inflammatory challenge CRP level starts to rise and as the biological half life of CRP is only 24 hours, CRP concentration decrease much faster than any other acute phase parameter and accurately parallels the activity of the inflammation process.

The CRP ELISA from IBL international can determine CRP levels within 5-100mg/L in serum, plasma and cell culture supernatant.

IBL international also offer a high sensitive CRP ELISA (0.4-10mg/L). Studies have shown that mild elevation of base line CRP among apparently healthy individuals is associated with a higher long-term risk of future cardiovascular complications.

This novel and evolving biomarker, provides a useful predictive indicator of subsequent cardiovascular disease although the test should only be used to evaluate risk in apparently healthy individuals with no recent infection or other serious illness history.

To place an order for the CRP ELISA (cat# EU59131) or the High Sensitive CRP ELISA (cat# EU59151) please contact us.

QuikRead go®

QuikRead goQuikRead go from Orion Diagnostica is a simple, easy to use test for quantitative measurement of CRP (5-200mg/L range). New kits are now available for CRP + Hb, and Strep A.

CRP can be used as a basic tool to distinguish bacterial infections from viral infections and monitoring CRP levels can also provide a means of assessing treatment response.

The QuikRead go CRP system consists of a small instrument and ready to use kit. The test is performed on a finger prick blood sample although serum and plasma samples can also be used. With instant instrument operation and immediate results (test time 2 minutes) it is an ideal system for near patient testing or as additional, dedicated instrument in larger laboratories.
